2022 Thanksgiving Wine Picks

Menicucci Vini Ginesia Pecorino   $18 (Staff Pick - November)

This 100% organic Pecorino wine is deliciously fresh and floral, with hints of white flowers and fruits, with a mouth-watering and flavorful finish. Seafood, mushrooms & white meat are the perfect food pairing for this refreshing white wine.

Trouillet – Lebeau Macon-Solutre-Pouilly Chardonnay   $27 (Staff Pick - November)

The nose opens generously with sweet notes of candied and citrus fruits. The maturity and ripeness of the fruit combine with an aromatic freshness and a real delicacy in the mouth, which screams Thanksgiving. The wine is structured, but still lively on the finish.

Three by Wade Rose   $21 (Staff Pick - November)

Melon rind and bright raspberry fruit dominate the aromatics, leading into a crushable and fresh Rose that carries energy for days. Perfect as an aperitif, or with shellfish, spicy food, and of course turkey.

Frederic Esmonin Pinot Noir   $15 (Staff Pick - November)

This classic Pinot Noir displays a dark ruby red color with bright red fruit notes of fresh cherry and strawberries. It is bright and smooth in the mouth with nice freshness and layers of flavor delivering excellent length on the palate.

Carlos Serres Reserva $19 (Staff Pick - November)

90% Tempranillo and 10% Graciano aged 24 months in oak barrels and an additional 12 months in the bottle before its release. It is a complex and elegant wine with aromas and flavors of mature black fruit and mineral notes, a perfect match with grilled meats, stews and stronger cheeses.

Chateau La Tour de Beraud Heritage   $22 (Staff Pick - November)

Dark inky color with a ruby hue. Aromas of raspberries, cherry compote with an underlying floral scent. Flavors of raspberry cordial, juicy red cherries, spicy, earthy, bark. A hint of licorice and a tangy finish with lively acidity.

 

Tenimenti Spinsanti Sparkling Pecorino   $18

Pale straw yellow with brilliant reflections. Bouquet: intense and persistent, balsamic fragrances of sage and thyme that blend with floral scents of acacia, crisp scent of bread crust. Taste: fresh and full, with excellent minerality and rich acidity.

Villiera Jasmine Fragrant White Blend   $16

Off dry, fragrant, elegant white wine. The wine is a blend of the rare Muscat Ottonel, Gewurztraminer and Riesling. A floral, slightly spicy white wine which is fresh, light and slightly sweet but complex enough to drink with food.

Keermont White Blend   $25

The backbone of this blend is Chenin Blanc accompanied by varying fractions of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier. This wine has a bouquet of citrus blossom with hazelnut, lemon grass and butterscotch undertones. The wine has a soft sweet entry with a racy linear acidity. Ripe citrus and stone fruit flavors evolve into a lovely lingering dry earthy finish.  This is a textured white wine with layers of flavor.

Pont de Gassac Blanc   $17

40% Chardonnay, 40% Viognier, 20% Sauvignon blanc.

Intense aromas of oranges and white flowers with a lemony note. Beautiful fruity aromas and a touch of honey with a long and strong, fresh and full finish. Perfect with turkey.

Domaine la Croix Belle Champ des Lys   $16

The "Champ de Lys" is a blend of Viognier (50%), Grenache Blanc (20%), Chardonnay (20%) and Sauvignon Blanc (10%). It spends most of its time in stainless, but a small fraction sees a touch of oak aging. The nose shows ripe stone fruit, aromas of peach and nectarine. Lacy white flowers also appear, and the wine has a wonderful citrus driven finish.

White Knight Viognier   $15

The White Knight Viognier has a small amount of French Colombard and Muscat added to provide balance. Its notes of green apple, peach and honeysuckle are very noticeable. It’s a medium bodied wine that is at its best served at about 50 degrees. Viognier is such a nice alternative grape, you can also match it with roasted chicken, shrimp or lighter cheeses.

Karl Erbes Riesling   $16

Profoundly ripe, almost fleshy honeydew and grapefruit flavors coat the palate in this bold, fruity kabinett. Drenched in honey and nectar yet balanced by crisp lemon-lime acidity and a sheen of crushed stone and smoke, it's a wine that begs to be enjoyed young with a big ass bird.

Steindorfer Burgenland Apetlon Rouge $19

The nose brims with fruit, specifically ripe cherry and raspberry with just a touch of spice and floral complexity. It feels fleshy and generous on the palate, with super-ripe cherry/red berry fruit and accents of cherry blossom, red licorice, white pepper and spice. The finish is fresh and pure, with ripe fruit turning fresh and juicy over the fine-grained tannins.

Wilhelm Walch Pinot Noir   $20

Fermented in stainless steel at 26 degrees centigrade, followed by aging in large Slavonian oak casks.  Mouth-filling and velvety, rich, and elegant body with mild tannins. A fine aroma, delicious and fruity on the nose.  Goes best with grilled meat, roasts, game and of course turkey. 

Calvet Cotes du Rhone $14

A purple color with violet highlights. A rich nose characterized by crystallized red berry fruits. Round and generous on the palate. Fairly intense ruby red, clear and brilliant hue. Red fruit, strawberries, blackberries, currants, spicy aromas. Very round and warm wine, with typical spicy notes.

Domaine de Moulin Pouzy Bergerac   $18

A blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, this is soft, ripe and juicy, there is a lightly smoky character to go with the red currant and bright acidity. This is a tasty wine for the holiday season.

Perrini Negroamaro   $17

This excellent wine is hand crafted with grapes of Negroamaro that have been harvested and selected by hand and aged in cellared oak barrels. Elegant, intense, and exceptionally complex, this wine is pleasantly fruity with nuances of red berries with floral notes of spice.

Rio Madre Graciano   $14

Rio Madre Graciano shows the most jovial, tasty and fruity character of the variety. It is the result of the efforts of Jorge Ordóñez and Bodegas Ilurce to produce a 100% Graciano wine from D.O.C. Rioja. Very dark on the nose, with lots of raw spices, charcoal and some green peppercorns on top of the blackberries. Very full-bodied and spicy.  Almost a bit monolithic, despite the fine-grained tannins.

Vina las Perdices Chac Chac Malbec   $14

Intense violet red color.  Great concentration, the nose presents aromas of red fruits, plum jam and strawberries.  In the mouth there is a predominant presence of red fruits, it is elegant, friendly, and very complex.
