Hugl Gemischter Satz - $13
Dry White Field Blend of 50% Grüner Veltliner, 40% Gelber Muskateller and 10% Riesling, from Poysdorf, Austria. This aromatic, savory, and dry white traditionally must all be harvested the same day to qualify, and we’re so happy that it does. White peach, Meyer lemon, and crisp gala apple play with white flowers, dried green herbs, and white pepper, with a palate of heightened acidity and salty refreshment that make Summer-in-a-Bottle an understatement, while staying fascinating and complex. Make Austria the centerpiece of your wine season!
Lydian Cabernet Sauvignon - $25
From Columbia Valley, Washington. Oh yeah…my kinda Cab. Rich and full bodied with a metric ton of flavor, yet with enough tannins and fresh precision that one can enjoy more than just one sip. Boisterous black cherry, black currant, tarragon and chocolate shout out of the glass, with just the right amount of bitterness of coffee and cocoa nib on the palate to curb the gooey jammy black fruit in those supple tannins. A Summer burger would swoon over this bottle, but you’re aloud to forgo the pairing and just gorge this thing.
Terre de la Custodia Grechetto - $20
Grechetto Grape from Umbria, Southern Italy. Quite the badass, this dry white is structured and strong-willed, while staying refreshing and light, all staying quintessentially Italian. Ripe yellow apple, white peaches, and lemon zest play second fiddle to serious fresh straw, minerality, and bitter almond flavors throughout the glass. Zippy sparkly acidity in the form of chamomile and zesty citrus flavors liftsup the lush strength of this wine into the echelons of a unique and gorgeous outdoor banger.
Chateau de Thesee La Closerie Touraine - $18
Sauvignon Blanc from Loire Valley, Western France. No matter what Sauv Blanc camp you hail from, come one, come all. Soft juicy citrus, underripe papaya, and the prettiest herbaceous pop of a fresh spring day lay the bright and beautiful foundation for a palate that is super bright and refreshing without the sharp bitterness of too much acidity. This arctic chill SB has laid back sunny Spring and Summer days written all over it.
Comte De Bernadotte Pinot Noir - $15
From Loire Valley, Western France. Easy, breezy, beautiful Pinot that absolutely anyone can drink and is an absolute steal for the price. Cranberry, vanilla cherry cola, and the slightest touch of mushroom and underbrush accompany a silky-smooth mouthfeel, low fleeting tannins, and just enough acidity to liven the flavors and compel you to have another sip. Good thing we have more than one!
Gigi Rosso Barbara D’Alba - $24
Barbera Grape from Piedmont, Northern Italy. A perfect bottle to shepherd you into the awesomeness of this grape and place. Silky smooth yet crackling with youthful energy. Showing sweet approachable fruit and purple flowers yet the addictive bitterness of spicy earth and dried herbs. Subtle and drinkable yet endlessly satisfying. Throw a humble Italian dish with red sauce at this and you may pass out. The crown jewel of Dave’s trip, and indeed this bag, is soon in your hands and happily in your glass.
